BLOGGING CHALLENGE BEGINS!!

 MARCH 2013 CHALLENGE


Students in Mrs. Neidlinger's 7th Language Arts classes will begin their 2nd week of the International "Blogging Challenge" this week.  Students have created their own Digital Identities through on-line portfolios and blogs.  Please click on the "Student Portfolios & Blogs" tab above, which houses all student links.

"Challenge 1" – Who am I"

 STUDENT CHALLENGE-

WEEK 1- 3/3-3/8

 Challenge about the number 10
 
BLOG POST:  If you could meet 10 people, alive or dead, who would they be? Make a list of the people and include one question you would ask them in an interview. You cannot repeat the same question.


Other challenges for week 1 that you may want to consider:

1. Create an avatar that represents you –

2. So you know where your visitors are coming from, have some sort of map or flag counter

3. Not all students have English as their first language, so you will need a translator widget of some sort on your blog.

4. Part of good digital citizenship is not being a cyber bully. Have you ever been cyber-bullied? What did you do about it? Make a list of hints for other students who are being cyber-bullied. Create a page on Cyber Bullying.  Maybe make a poster about what to do and what not to do. Perhaps you could use Glogster-  You could even create a Screen-Cast.
 
5. Are you going to have any guidelines or rules for leaving comments on your blog? 

6. Create a page about why students and classes should visit your blog.  Why is your blog going to be interesting? What will you be posting about? What could they learn from reading your blog?  

7. If you have been blogging for a while, write a post highlighting some posts you have written that you would recommend new bloggers read. Remember to give an explanation why – what will they learn from reading that post? Make sure you link to the posts you are recommending so your readers can actually visit them.

****Make sure you hyperlink back to the challenge post  somewhere in your post.

    Thanks for registering for the March 2013 blogging challenge. Make sure you visit the blog every week starting 3rd March, when the first challenge is published. If you want a reminder sent to your email each week, use the "Subscribe by email" on the right sidebar of the blog. Also make sure you visit blogs from other classes around the world with similar ages.

    1. Thank you!! We're excited to get started. It's been a hectic week with ISTEP and then No School yesterday due to a snow storm...... Please let us know if we don't have something set up correctly. Between today and tomorrow, most students should be established and have their initial post for the challenge completed.
